Sounds like we have a lot in common. My mother is Austrian, born and raised. My father American - we lost a lot of relatives during WWII as well. My cousin does the genealogy on my father's side, but we've tried without success to do my mothers. Since you have family there you probably know how hard it is to get records from that time. We've even had a couple of experts try.. didn't work.
I think one of these days I'm going to try to at least get my great grandmother's name.. even my mother doesn't know that. My grandmother, fwiw was on the Olympic team which is pretty cool, but we can't even find records of that. It's so weird - it's like... a big blank, which is sad, because on my fathers side we can go back to the 1300s which is really really cool. :-) Do you use any specific program? My cousin does - I'd have to ask her what it is though. I kind of stink at the whole thing, it's so complicated and I have little to no time for it. I think it really needs a lot of time and dedication more than anything. Sorry to hear that you lost family in the holocaust, were they Jewish? I'm pretty sure there's a way to get records for that - or at least I know there have been huge efforts to do so. I think the Samuel Weisenthall site has some, and maybe if you contact them they can help. I wonder if they also help with the Roma people and all the others who were in the camps? I found a few and there are more. http://www.ushmm.org/remembrance/registry/ http://www.judymeschel.com/coshtrace.htm <-- registry for children of holocaust survivors http://www.shtetlinks.jewishgen.org/lodz/trace.htm All those sites have resources. Pretty cool. Looks like a ton of work, but would be worthwhile! I have another friend - she's on this group - but unfortunately she's been arrested, imprisoned, and is now on house arrest with major communication controls. She's an animal and political activist. I hope she's free soon! You'd like her I think. She's a fantastic woman! I'm not sure when they're going to set her free.. :-( They won't even let her out to the laundry area of her apartments.. it's ridiculous. Anyway... talk to you later. :-) Lara Ancientwarrior67777 wrote: > > > Well I know I am related to Vasco Nunes de Balboa and so one, still > doing the connection to my family tree on my mother side ... kinda > hard when some on my mothers father side died during the holocaust as > some of the people on my father side who stayed in Europe. > > peace Lara > > // > > > > */Only logical people who can see pass the fog, will understand the > truth about the future. - Lara N (7-2009)/* > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > *From:* Linda Ghaliyaa Richard <[email protected]> > *To:* [email protected] > *Sent:* Thursday, July 23, 2009 8:44:26 PM > *Subject:* Re: [bangla-vision] Six months of the Obama administration > > > > LOL!!
