Not that I recall. Even so, it's not just the size of the attachment but that multiplied by the number of users that it has to pump out.
I suppose my attitude is a relic of my low bandwidth past but I can't really see the reason for landing a few MB pdf into the inboxen of all the subscribers of a mailing list.
