Hi,

I had a meeting yesterday with OTC, a VC, for a first contact. It's not the
right time yet for us to discuss with VCs, but it's interesting to already
have a glimpse of their expectations.

Basically, they're very interested in social gaming because of the current
buzz, but they are not very comfortable with the model. They wonder if the
impressive cash-flow figures that are currently shown are going to last, and
what are the reasons for these figures to last (retention of players, new
sources of revenues, etc.). They also wonder where the value of these
companies lies, given that the traditional valuation methods (assets/long
term cash-flow/etc) don't apply => What part of the value should be related
to the player base, what part to the IPs, what part to the team&know-how,
etc.
They have the same kind of questions for open source - streams of revenues,
durability, valuation, etc.

So nothing really specific to our project (the meeting was short and I did a
rather quick and generic presentation), but generic and long term points
that we can tackle in the coming months. Our business model and our game
design will be largely intricate, so refining our vision of the game will
directly be helpful for understanding our come/stay/pay model and for these
financials discussions.
