Hi,
You may remember the Mozilla contest I talked about a couple of months
ago:
http://mozillalabs.com/gaming/2010/12/21/defy-gravity-game-on-prizes/
The deadline, January 11th, is now quickly approaching, and I'd like to
make sure we have something to submit. We won't have a finished game by
then, but it would be great if we still had a playable demo - something
that could give a good feel of what the game could become. Even without
winning, I think this contest is important in terms of exposure, as I
think they are likely to let visitors contribute to the selection
("Community's Choice"). Would be a good way to get a few people trying
it out.
However, at the current speed, I don't think we're going to make it. So,
following the good advice from Paul Graham, I'd like to initiate a
Sprint toward that goal. What it means concretely is that I'll stop
spending time on anything else than trying to reach that goal until the
deadline. My participation to the mailing-list will be more sparse until
then. Especially, after today I won't be able to spend time on reviews
or project management.
Pramendra -- I'll still take the time this afternoon to review the
current state of Card Stories. But after that, I won't be available to
do that again until January 12th. Is it ok for you to push back the
deadline until then? I'll also mention it on vWorker to Ajay.
Vlad -- except when it come to work to perform on Fridays, I won't be
able to spend much time on tasks follow-up. I'll let David tell a bit
more about this. But I'm definitely looking forward to work with you on
Fridays - even if you will only have 3 days of work on Hackit before the
deadline, this will be invaluably helpful to get something good to
present.
Alex -- I'm looking forward to continue the discussion on the game
setting, but I will probably mostly stay out of it until January 12th.
This work could still be very useful for the contest though - I would
love to spend some time implementing one of your missions, and your
feedback on the game and missions will be very helpful to get something
good ready! (Actually, question to both you and David - when do you
think there could be a first mission scenario ready?)
Deborah -- I hope we'll be able to spend some time refining the
interface. : ) Will you have the time? When could we schedule this?
Xavier.
