Hi Cassie,You're completely right - it can be harder to get friends to come to the game.
It's actually already possible to play with other people that are on the server at the same time, even if you don't know them. I've looked, and it looks like you came at a time when there wasn't other people around (it's just the beginning of the beta test, so we haven't advertised the game a lot yet).
