Yup, it's best if it can be integrated in the dynamic of the rest of the
gameplay - as David mentioned it some time ago, it should not break the
immersion.

Agreed, some of the items you buy should help you during the minigame.
Viruses, protections, special attacks... All of this can be used.

What do you mean by "this makes the main game too simple", though?

Yup, I believe this is the direction we are taking - turn based to
accommodate asynchronous playtime, use of "main" game skills and objects
within the minigame.
