One of the developer posted on the thread - it seems to confirm the fact that the v4.0a won't work correctly, he's advising to try the latest development version from the repository. Can you try to retrieve that one, and see if it fixes your issues? It's likely that the development version will have issues too - but at least we'll be in a position to do something about it, as they seem open to code contributions. Let me know what issues you get, and if they are listed on http://github.com/endtwist/AjaxIM/issues . Depending on the amount of work that fixing those would require, we can then see how to proceed, and how it fits in our iterations.
