I didn't have an official call with the Canadian embassy, but this is what I got so far: The embassy treats every applicant for a visa as a potential immigrant and it's my job to prove them I don't intend to remain in Canada once I get there :) This has 2 aspects: one is to prove that I have sufficient reason to get back, meaning I have strong ties with my country. This will be a collection of documents like bank statements and list of properties I own etc. I will take care of this. The second thing is to show that I have where to stay when I'm there. I think here you can help me. How do you organize the logistics of the trip? Do you book rooms in advance? Will the reservation be nominal? Ideally when I go to the visa interview I will have a room reservation with my name on it.
In theory I shouldn't have to worry about getting the visa. However there are no guarantees. The process isn't transparent at all. From what I have read on various forums, the interview can last 1 minute or 1 hour and there were cases where people with substantial documentation got rejected and people with no documentation at all got accepted etc. and in all cases no one gives any explanation about the reasons for rejection. So, I'll start prepare the documentation, let me know if you can help with the proof of accommodation, I'll schedule the interview and hope for the best :) Vlad _______________________________________________ Hackit Bar mailing list - [email protected] Wiki: http://community.hackit.cx/ List: http://community.hackit.cx/ml/ Forum: http://community.hackit.cx/forum/ Ideas: http://community.hackit.cx/ideas/ IRC: irc://irc.freenode.net/#politis
