+1. Too many online games come with the multiplayer experience as an
afterthought. I think for us the risk is limited though, since the
concept itself was thought as a multiplayer game. But definitely
something to keep in mind yup.

Yes, I think that's an excellent point. If the entity you are talking to
is actually a human, then it becomes easier to relate to it. It comes
with a few issues too, though - especially, it's a lot harder to make it
look "real". A real human interaction is one of the hardest things to
fake...

But here, we could simply take the opposite approach, as previously
discussed: instead of trying to make the player believe he's talking to
a human, we could use a suspension of disbelief at first (it's obvious
that he is talking to a NPC), but then add interaction with a human
impersonating a NPC later on. Then he will always wonder if he's talking
to a human or a NPC...

Yup, it's a good lead. The issue with giving a date for the end of the
world is, well, that usually the end of the world doesn't happen at the
announced date. ;p But agreed, that relates well to what has been
discussed previously, it's good food for thoughts.
