My opinion: No, it's not OK. I am STRONGLY opposed to this.
That is not what I think Barcamp is about. We have sponsors, but they contribute money for a small, passive logo on event materials to show their support for the open source community. I think that is a fair trade. I don't want people there promoting products. I don't want it to be a commerical event. I don't want barcamp to become a circus. There are events for that. They can promote their products there. I don' think it's fair to the sponsors that are contributing to support the event. I don't think it's fair for other companies to use sponsorship dollars of other companies and the hard work of many volunteers to promote their products for their own profit. No. I don't like it. I think that we have to draw a line somewhere and that's just a bit over the line. If they are registered participants there are welcome to join and they can post a topic and if they get enough votes they can have a room to present for 25 minutes. Just like everybody else. I think we have to say "NO!" here. If we allow a little this time, it's not long before we have booths with music blaring and it becomes just another commercial event driven by money and profit. I don't want to sell out No. No. No. But that's just my opinion. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Barcamp Thailand" group.
