yes, it's strange that they say it's fixed, but it does not work. The dependency problem indeed does not seem to be related with the bareos packages, at least your output does not show any bareos package related problem. As that seems to upgrade PostgreSQL 9.1 to 9.3 some addtional action, as http://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.3/static/release-9-3.html says: "A dump/restore using pg_dumpall, or use of pg_upgrade, is required for those wishing to migrate data from any previous release." As far as I know, dist-upgrade should handle that somehow properly. If you could fix the Ubuntu PostgreSQL problem and the Bareos 12.4 packages work, I'd suggest to leave the bareos-12.4 repo for Ubuntu 12.04 disabled until a new stable Bareos release gets published. As far as I know, dist-upgrade should not uninstall the bareos packages. Or did you see any errors from the dist-upgrade? For Ubuntu 14.04 until now, only experimental/nightly packages were published: http://download.bareos.org/bareos/experimental/nightly/xUbuntu_14.04/ However, note that they are experimental and may still have issues, and as that are Bareos 14.2.x versions, this also requires some DB schema changes. After upgrading from Bareos-12.4, you must run the following scripts as postgres user: /usr/lib/bareos/scripts/update_bareos_tables /usr/lib/bareos/scripts/grant_bareos_privileges This also means, that you can't easily go back to the old version, so make sure to backup the DB before trying that if you want to be able to do that.
