Hi List I just want to ask if there are any experiences in using "Max Block Size " in an production environment by using LTO5 Tape Drives.
At the moment I use 3 Quantum Scalar i80 tape librarys. The first one is used with the default blocksize (64k) and runs great and reliable. After testing with btape I decided to install the second with a max block size set to 1M cause this is realy a speed improvement. This was done prior the 14.2 release. Last week i assigned a third library with blocksize set to 1M. On the second drive I sometimes see "device or ressource busy" errors on the drive wich lead bareos to load another tape and in the past it stopped backup jobs with "intervention needed" errors. On the third drive I run into an error this week while a restore job was started. The error here was also "device or ressource busy". Finaly i got the file but i can reproduce the error mainly near the end of the tape. Maybe the error on drive three goes down to another issue than the errors on drive two. But the only configuration differences between the first Drive and the other two is the use of Maximum Block Size and Maximum File Size directive. Can anybody report about errors like that by using higher blocksizes? __________ Information from ESET Mail Security, version of virus signature database 11519 (20150423) __________ The message was checked by ESET Mail Security. http://www.eset.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "bareos-users" group.
