Zitat von David Pearce <[email protected]>:

I'm confused by the restore documentation (chapter 15).

It starts with this statement:
"Below, we will discuss restoring files with the Console restore command, which is the recommended way of doing restoring files. It is not possible to restore files by automatically starting a job as you do with Backup, Verify, ... jobs."

Then it says:
"In general, to restore a file or a set of files, you must run a restore job."

The documentation then explains how to use the "restore" command in bconsole.

Then at "15.10 Example Restore Job Resource" is lists an example restore job.

Any kind words of explanation for a Bareos noob?

In the first statement the "automatically" is the main part, because every restore (job) must be crafted "by hand". Otherwise it is a "job" as all the other backup/verify etc. jobs.

Regards

Andreas
