You didn't tell us, if you're using VSS or not. Make assumption like you've done it not helpful to you nor for the project. Then if you can share a link to what is Diablo III would help those who can help to give good advise. If you want to save something running and it doesn't support Microsoft VSS technologies you will have to a) stop the service using those data, b) create or paid for specific plugin development. >From my point of view, a program having it's data located inside %programFile% >is heretic there's dedicated place on Windows for data.
