No, not really. In all my 15+ years of running OpenBSD, I've never seen
3rd-party *binary* packages be acceptable in OpenBSD. (I exclude m:tier from
that, for obvious reasons, and even they're not universally accepted.)

Bacula is already in ports, you could run that in compatibility mode.
Otherwise, OpenBSD has its own very, um, close-knit, let's call it, software
porting community; feel free to contribute a Bareos port. The existing Bacula
port would likely be an excellent starting point.

Alternately, I'm sure you could pay the Bareos dev team to create and maintain
an OpenBSD port. If they aren't getting paid specifically to do so, why would
they bother to support an OS that's pretty much guaranteed to generate zero
revenue?

Or, you could try and convince either Stuart ([email protected]) or m:tier
to maintain a Bareos port in parallel with the Bacula port.

There's a fair number of local patches to Bacula in the OpenBSD ports tree
(http://cvsweb.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/ports/sysutils/bacula/patches/?hideattic=1#dirlist).
It looks like the vast majority of the patches are to buildscripts, not code,
so they'll probably either translate quite well to Bareos or be completely
inapplicable.

Having a quick look at those patches, I'd suggest there's a good chance you
could just compile the Bareos source yourself without much difficulty. I do
that for the lone Solaris machine I have to maintain, and compiling just the FD
is pretty simple.

For the record, I'd enjoy having an OpenBSD port myself, but I'm not prepared
to commit to being the port maintainer.
