Hi list,
we continuously get "Connection reset by peer" if we try to backup a few
GB from a w2k3 guest on VirtualBox. Tests show that a similar OS on KVM
works well: we assume virtualbox is the culprit. We tried different
virtual network adapters, playing with BareOS buffers and bandwidth. No
success.
We cannot migrate now, so the idea is:
- cifs-mount in autofs a couiple of shares from the w2k3 guest on the
hypervisor over local host-only network
- put symlinks to the autofs mountpoints
- point bareos to the symlinks for the backup.
Now, bareos only backups the symlinks, and not the files on the mounted
share. We also tried /path/to/symlink/*. This results in no such file or
dir.
Since the above did not work, we tried pointing bareos to the
mountpoints itself. This does work.
Now I expect to have files, but no windows metadata such as permissions.
I also expect not to be able to restore to windows, but only via the
linux cifs mounts.
Is there a way to make this work according to y'all, or should we leave
this idea right away ? Any other comments on this? Any experience with
w2k3, virtualbox and bareos backups ?
Thanks,
Arjen Van Drie.
