Typical wrong installation of the database, what is the engine you use, how 
the database has been set.

Trying to use anything else than SQL_ASCII for postgresql will just render 
your bareos db unsuable (same is true for Mysql)

Read the doc luke ! :-)) everything is in it, and if you use the proper script 
give by bareos.org package you almost can't make it wrong.
