Many thanks for your help! You was right. The driver didn't like the gap in 
DriveIndex numbering. The Overland Neo 400S was shipped with 1-mounted, 2-free, 
3-mounted, 4-free. Until today there was no reason to change that. After 
changing this (was a nightmare and took me a day, see my P.S.) everything is 
working as expected (still with nst0 and nst1.

P.S.: After moving drive from slot 3 to 2 and with newest firmware release 
installed, Neo400S said that (not anymore existing) drive in slot3 was missing. 
Only a factory reset solved the issue.
