I was able to lable the tapes. The problem was that the ^SAS-HBA was not a "dumb" one, but also served as a RAID controller. I changed it with a dumb one and labeling works now.
During the labeling I got read errors but they seem very strange to me, e. g.: Sending label command for Volume "000238" Slot 14 ... 3307 Issuing autochanger "unload slot 13, drive 0" command. 3304 Issuing autochanger "load slot 14, drive 0" command. 3305 Autochanger "load slot 14, drive 0", status is OK. block.c:1003 Read error on fd=5 at file:blk 0:0 on device "tapedrive-0" (/dev/tape/by-id/scsi-3500308c38e0c9000-nst). Especcially the out of memory error seems strange.
