Hi, I'm a new Bareos user so I would like to start by thanking you for the support and help you offer to the community.
I'm having an issue understanding the behavior of client initiated connections. I've setup a test environment where I'm trying to backup laptops. Since I'm dealing with devices that aren't supposed to be available all the time, I thought it would be a good idea to let the clients establish the connection to the bareos director. What I don't understand is that if the laptop isn't available, the backup job will fail. The way I see it is that it shouldn't mark the job as failed because the client is explicitly configured as it is the one which initiate the connection so the bareos director should notice that. One more thing, if I get failed jobs messages every time the schedule runs and the laptops aren't connected, wouldn't it be the same as I don't use the client initiated connection in the first place? Please enlighten me. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "bareos-users" group.
