Correction...I also had to comment out "Check Labels = yes". Not sure why that makes it hang...but it does. Perhaps the entire problem?

I notice in my configuration I don't have "Check Labels" and I don't
have "MaximumFileSize". I don't see "RemovableMedia" in your settings
nor do I see "RandomAccess" or "Autoselect". Those might be clues, or
they just might be things left over in my config from bacula.

Here's my device config. My changer only has 1 drive though, I'm not
sure if that makes a difference. I'm also not sure how multiple devices
in the autochanger config work. You might try with just 1 device to start.

Device {
   Name = Drive-LTO-0
   Drive Index = 0
   Media Type = LTO-5
   Archive Device =  /dev/drive0_pv-124t
   AutomaticMount = yes # when device opened, read it
   AlwaysOpen = yes
   RemovableMedia = yes
   RandomAccess = no
   AutoChanger = yes
   Autoselect = yes
   # Enable the Alert command only if you have the mtx package loaded
   #Alert Command = "sh -c 'tapeinfo -f %c |grep TapeAlert|cat'"

   Maximum Spool Size = 1500Gb
   Spool Directory = /mnt/bacula-spool
}

I've taken over a configuration of BareOS on Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie). Its a
fresh install, using both file and Autochanger storage.

Everything looks correct and bconsole will talk with the changer (I can move,
mount, unmout, label tapes etc.).

Problem: The backups will write to the autochanger's drive - but ONLY if the
tape is manually mounted. If the drive is empty, the backup job will not pull a
tape into the drive. It just stays queued indefinitely. If I move the tape to
the dirve (even after the job is started) it runs fine.

The tapes are barcoded and labeled.

See pertinent config in attachments.
