Well I found my problem and it was really dumb. I had enabled a zabbix check on 
port 9101 and that's why I was getting spammed with ERROR messages.
I've disabled the check for now.

I swear I've seen it as BareOS somewhere, or maybe I've been just looking at 
too many distros lately.
