Personally, the support for multiple catalogs always seemed a bit "incomplete" to me to say it (the fact of not being able to have a global and unified view of all the catalogs is a great limitation in itself, if not a problem) and is not the fault of Bareos, this is so from the first day that Bacula endured multiple catalogs. In any case, you will not use tapes already used in another Bareos catalog. Bareos knows that the tape belongs to another Instance of Bareos. In addition, you need to send the tapes to a Scratch pool of that specific catalog, from which the other pools can take tapes ready to be used.
