My backups are running auto ncremental with the intention of eventually
enabling consolidation (I tried but it is giving me issues so I'm doing it
one step at a time). I'm basing the setup on

My pool is set for a max of 40G with a volume use duration of 7 days (see
below). It is supposed to auto prune and truncate on purge. My
understanding is that the settings I have should let a volume grow to a max
of 40 gig, then start a new one and the volume can be used for 7 days and
then it recycles (that is set to yes). What I am seeing is that the volume
does not grow to 40 gi. For example volume 0 grows to 1.9G on say 8/7.
Then on 8/8 the next backup uses the next volume, volume 1.

Why isn't the volume growing to 40gig before starting the next one?

Thanks.

Here is the pool.

Pool {
Name = WinWS
Description = "Window Workstation pool"

Pool Type = Backup
Recycle = yes
Auto Prune = yes
Maximum Volume Bytes = 40G
Label Format = "WinWS-AI-$NumVols"
Volume Use Duration = 7 days
Storage = WinWS
Next Pool = WinWSCons
Volume Retention = 1 years
Maximum Volumes = 7

Action On Purge = Truncate
}
