Did not make any difference.

Anyway, the problem may have some other origins - I have at first a couple 
of failed jobs due to a typo in the config

Something is weird with this host because the incrementals are 1.3 GB and I 
know for sure that there's no way to be that much data from a day to day 
workflow. Maybe a couple of Kb but nothing close to GB.
I do also classic mysqldumps for that instance and the archives are the 
same, the increase is in size is kilobytes. 

For now i've removed everything and start from scratch to see if the issue 
persists.
