I upgraded from Bareos 17 to 22 in one step, while switching os from Debian to Rocky and it worked like a charm. Of course, you should have a working backup of your catalog and take a look at the upgrade notes of each version. As an example, starting with Bareos 21, Mysql isn’t supported as catalog database, any more. If you have the chance, take the catalog to a virtual machine and try the update, then you’ll realize the pitfalls.
