I've read through the manual on media types and I believe this scenario will work correctly, but wanted to confirm it with others on the list.
I have a tape library with 2 LTO-8 drives and 2 LTO-9 drives. I believe that I can use a single pool for both LTO-8 and LTO-9 tapes. I will define 2 Device Resources with media type LTO-8 and 2 Device Resources with media type LTO-9. I will then assign all 4 devices to the Changer Resource. Then as long as I select the correct drive when labeling tapes, they will end up with the correct media type. Am I right? However I see that the DIR->Storage resource also has a media type and that is for the changer device. So maybe this won't work? Can I have 2 autochanger Device resources referencing the same SCSI device? Then I'd have 2 pools (LTO-8 and LTO-9). Would bareos figure out how to make sure that commands aren't sent to both at the same time or perhaps the mtx-changer script will just wait?
