If you don't need to interact with vmware, I suggest you don't try to build the plugin package, as getting vixdisklib is fiddly. When I build it, I expand the broadcom download (I can't remember if you need to build vixdisklib too - refer to the readme), set the environment vars, as shown below, and run "debuild".
