I've started loading all 9 parts of Toeschi magnum opus into Finale. The
flutes and horns sound really good in the Finale playback. I'm sure they'll
sound like crap in the midi version.
The melody in the first movement is more fetching than I remember. Lots of
intricate rhythmic play and quick runs right to the 12th fret. Not as hard as
some of Hagen's own concerto parts. The lute solos have violin accompaniment
throughout. Not too much exposure.
Any thoughts or knowledge on who might have arranged this piece. Who would
have travelled to the Mannheim court? Hagen or Kohaut are the prime suspects.
It's on the way from Vienna or Bayreuth to Paris for the Concert Spirituel.
Anyone else?
It's nice to have an example of lute music from the great Mannheim court
with all the bells and whistles (flutes and horns)
