Baroque lutenists, I happened to find one to me very familiar piece piece by Lully in ms. Balcarres. Perhaps it is generally known, perhaps not. Better to tell, in case it is not...
So on page 19 there is a "Belle hereuse, with the 9th lowed halfe a note, mr. Beck's way". And actually it is an arrangement of a song by Lully: "Sommes nous pas trop heureux" from Ballet de l'Impatience, 1661! I have played also a de Visee's theorbo arr., so that is why, I knew the piece. Peter Steur in his very useful listings of the contents of "every" baroque lute ms. and print, doesn't mention this connection. (Btw: Thanks for your pages, Peter, if you happen to read this! I use them every day!)
