Dear lute friends,

I have completed my amateur play & recording of a "Partita de Monsieur
Loggi" from the baroque lute manuscript Mus. Ms. 40620 (previously
Staatsbibliothek Berlin, Germany). After 1945, the Ms. 40620 has been
reported missing for many decades. The Partita has then been published
in 1974 by Emil Vogel in his well known booklet "Z Loutnovych Tabulatur
Ceskeho Baroka" (Editio Supraphon, Music viva historica, vol. 40, "Aus
den Lautentabulaturen des Boehmischen Barocks"). However, a short while
ago the Ms. 40620 re-appeared as Pl-Kj MS. Mus 40620 of the Biblioteka
Jagiellonska in Krakow (Poland). A comparison of E. Vogel's
presentation and the original tabulatur now reveals major differences.
In Vogel's booklet phrases are missing / have been added, bass notes
have been added, sometimes rhythm and fingering have been changed. It
appears to me that E. Vogel worked out the Partita from a insufficient
copy in modern notation. Anyway, by no means it was his fault that he
has been denied access to the orginal tabulatur for so many years.
