Thanks for the notes! Quick question though... if the F7 kernel has
barry_charge turned on by default, why would my bb not charge automatically
(before I tried barry even)?

Since all I really want is to be able to plug the bb into the computer for
charging purposes seems like I would not need all of the other functionality
barry provides.

  Hi Robert,

You're running CVS, excellent. That has the latest fixes for opensync.

The thing you need to be careful about with F7 is that the kernel
has the berry_charge module on by default, and it also has
  CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND turned on.

The berry_charge module conflicts with bcharge if both are run at the
same time. If one works for you, just disable the other. Both
basically serve the same purpose, and it's up to you.

As for CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND, you will need to recompile your kernel with
that disabled, for reliable charging performance. The reason is that
the kernel suspends the USB devices and this gives undefined behaviour
on the Blackberry. The most common result is that the charge icon
will disappear, but I've also heard of devices draining power very
quickly as well. Just an inconvenience really.

Also, make sure you install ConsoleKit, to handle permissions on your
  pluggable devices.

Otherwise, Fedora 7 and Barry work well together.

Good luck, and let us know of any problems.
