Carlos, try a couple things first: Try running bcharge at a command prompt. Then try btool -l and see if it can find the Bold.
If you want to try a newer version, there is an ebuild at http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=233946 You will need to put this ebuild into a portage overlay. Other than that, you may want to compile the source yourself - the svn 0.14 version is working well.
