Just as an FYI, I have the 8830 on Sprint working perfectly, both in CDMA and GSM modes. I've sent Mike my chat and peers scripts, and I suspect that this is a carrier interaction problem, not strictly something with Barry. That said, I did see the password patch and I'm afraid I have no idea how this all really works.
The only real problems I have had (after figuring out the magic configuration and command line switch incantations) is that NetworkManager interferes with pppd (nothing to do with Barry) and that DNS is someone not set properly under CDMA, but working fine under GSM (go figure). My crud hack was to write a setuid wrapper script that: 1. Kills NetworkManager 2. Fires up pppd 3. Copies the appropriate resolv.conf to /etc Works, but it's a hack. Chris. P.S. The reason I did not reply to this earlier is that I though I had unsubscribed, but I seem to have conveniently not completed the process.... Michael L.
