yeah, I had found that a little bit ago. Should have googled before i asked. Anyway, it was a permissions issue, so that solved it. Needed to chown that directory and also fix the setting in the mailscanner.conf. Is there a way to get baruwa or the web server to log such permission errors to make debugging a bit easier?

No that is not odd, each mailscanner child starts up its own logger, But it does indicate what could be the issue, the logger starts up but nothing is logged at all.
