PS. I installed the latest BaseX-snapshot on another PC with Vista and it works fine there. So, it probably is my computer's configuration. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Try following: 1. reproduce issue, file open window should have focus 2. press alt+space to open the "window menu" (like clicking on the icon in the top left corner of a window) 3. press "down arrow key" twice (cursors will go to "Move" or however it's called, "Verschieben" in a German Windows setup) 4. press "enter", you're now able to move the window with the arrow keys Now try moving the window in both axes. Usually, windows recognizes the window is outside the view area and moves it back on your screen with the first arrow key pressed. It might be possible you might only need to press the down arrow key in (3) once. If this works, please report whether you changed any screen settings since first using BaseX or added/removed additional screens, maybe somehow the window state got restored to a position outside your screen for some weird reason.
