PS. I installed the latest BaseX-snapshot on another PC with Vista and it
works fine there. So, it probably is my computer's configuration.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Guys,

@Chrstian:
- I'm working with Windows Vista and Java 7 update 21.
@Jens:
- With ALT/TAB I can activate the 'file open' -dialog. If I close tis dialog
I can continue working in the BaseXGUI. So for some reasons the dialogbox is
not visible in my configuration.
- With ALT/SPACE I can't move the  window( maybe I can but I can’t see it)
but I can close the dialogbox with the close-option. I can also close the
(invisible) dialogbox with ALT/F4.
- So, the dialogbox has the focus but (in my configuration) it isn't
visible.
- Don't spend too much time on the issue. I can live with the situation now
I known how to close this invisible dialog and maybe it is caused by my
configuration.

Greets,
Rob

It is possible that the "file open" dialog somehow moved out of the screen.
Try following:

1. reproduce issue, file open window should have focus 2. press alt+space to
open the "window menu" (like clicking on the icon in the top left corner of
a window) 3. press "down arrow key" twice (cursors will go to "Move" or
however it's called, "Verschieben" in a German Windows setup) 4. press
"enter", you're now able to move the window with the arrow keys

Now try moving the window in both axes. Usually, windows recognizes the
window is outside the view area and moves it back on your screen with the
first arrow key pressed.

It might be possible you might only need to press the down arrow key in (3)
once.

If this works, please report whether you changed any screen settings since
first using BaseX or added/removed additional screens, maybe somehow the
window state got restored to a position outside your screen for some weird
reason.

Regards,
Jens
