Reviews:
Art reviewed ‘Samurai Shampoo’ as kind of bizarre & he’s still figuring
out the plot - but thinks it’s worth watching
Julie reviewed helping her aunt move, riding trains & getting the new
Harry Potter book. She says she had fun at both of the Harry Potter
parties she attended - and thought it all worth full price. She
commented that Rowling plays with her reading audience as a cat plays
with a mouse
I reviewed ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ as excellent & well worth
seeing, maybe twice. [there were various comments] Dave C follow-on’d
that Depp played Wonka as Michael Jackson overlaid with Mr. Rogers &
that Deep Roy was the hardest working actor in show biz. Trey reviewed
it as he enjoyed it and wishes the Oompa-Loompa lyrics had not been as
truncated as they were
Cheryl reviewed comics = that ‘Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere’ as pretty true
to Neil’s script & far truer to the author’s vision & also reviewed
‘Albion’ as a clever idea & her description of the comic makes it sound
delightful
Nathan reviewed the USS Hornet as it’s worth full price to visit &
reviewed the SF Conservatory as $5.00 was a bit too costly for the visit
but seeing the wetlands within it makes it worthwhile. Nathan also
reviewed ‘War of the Worlds’ as he enjoyed it - especially ‘seeing ET &
Drew Barrymore’ & thought it worth matinee
Chris reviewed ‘Wedding Crashers’ as the story of his youth & possibly
the funniest 45 minutes in the history of film, well worth full price &
reviewed the Masonic Hall ‘plastination’ exhibit as pretty boring -
except for the ‘sushi plattering’ of one fellow & worth being taken to.
He mentioned that he had just eaten sushi for dinner before being taken
to see it, too.
Joanie reviewed ‘Hallowed Hunt’ by Bjold as merely good but not
outstanding & thought it seemed a bit contrived
Dave C reviewed ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’ as he had a wonderful time &
rates it as worth matinee
Mike reviewed ComicCon as a long excruciating drive to get there & get
back - & that the size of it is enormous & it fills San Diego - that
there’s too much to possibly see & comfy shoes are a must & Buttonwillow
has a very decent IHOP & felt it was worth going there
We auctioned off stuff = books for $1.50 & $1.50
We adjourned at = 9:18 pm
And the rumor of the week was ‘blah!’
