Got this off the SMOF list - passing it on as an FYI

------------------------

The chair of CascadiaCon (the just-ended NASFiC) received an email on
Thursday that said in part:

-----

I went to the doctor today and was diagnosed with whooping cough. Whooping
cough is *very* contagious and can be very dangerous. Most people are
immunized for it when they get their shots around age 5. But, those shots
only last for 10 years or so. After that, you're supposed to get your
shots every 10 years, but most people don't. I wanted to let you know
because at the time of Con, I was very contagious. I don't know how you want to handle this. Anyone who was there could have potentially caught it and it's very serious if it's not caught early. All I can say is that I'm
sorry, I didn't know. For more info, go to:

The chair and the convention have confirmed this is real and not a rumor. The incubation time is 9-15 days. So if in that time frame you come down
with a cold like thing, talk to the doctor.
