[discussion followed on the subject]
The President managed to avoid reporting
Ed mentioned that he’s holding a party at Silicon & wanted to know if we
want a BASFA presence there
Frank Wu moved to establish a Silicon party fund jar & it passed ‘lots to 1’
Andy moved to name Ed the official BASFA party maven for Silicon
Announcements:
Carole announced the Silicon website has a lot of new info & much of the
convention programming - go look at it
Kevin announced they will be doing an Evil Genius party at Silicon on
Saturday, after the Masquerade
Reviews:
‘Serenity’ was multiply reviewed. Frank reviewed it as comprehensible to
non-fans of the TV series, literate, a sci-fi/Western that was very good
& he really liked the spaceship graveyard; Nathan reviewed it as great
fun, he really enjoyed it & it was worth full price; I reviewed it as
truly enjoyable & worth full price; Harold reviewed it as he wonders how
they can have a sequel with so many loose ends tied up; Dave C reviewed
the line outside as long & you needed to get your pass numbered; Dave G
reviewed it as ‘go see it’ & he enjoyed it [& various other comments
were made]
Andy reviewed a $10.00 one-time fee at librarything.com - a simple
cataloging tool - as very worthwhile
Carole announced there will be ‘Serenity’ & ‘Firefly’ panels at Silicon
Joanie reviewed ‘Corpse Bride’ as very pretty & Goth-y - but she
expected more - but rates it as still worth full price & reviewed the
Kaiser pre-jaw surgery menu as ‘she laughed, she cried - it was remarkable’
Dave G reviewed hanging out at the corporate-sponsored tailgate parties
before the Cal game as worth his BART fare; reviewed the Sunday Giants
game as very short & well worth full price & reviewed ‘Corpse Bride’ as
they liked it
Sue reviewed her trip to Maui as she absolutely loved it - thought the
Marriott luau was a waste of time - the whole thing worth full price
Frank reviewed ‘Mirrormask’ as the plot was ‘weird stuff happens -
hooray!’; it’s visually stunning, worth matinee
Nathan reviewed ‘Hidden Frontiers’ as making more sense than much of the
various ST series - check out www.hiddenfrontier.com
We auctioned off stuff = birthday auctioned off Nathan for $35.00 to Ed;
auctioned off a toy football & ‘Serenity’ tshirt for $19.00 & a book-bag
for $1.00
We adjourned at = 9:12 pm
And the rumor of the week was ‘Trey is a leaf on the wind; watch him soar’
