While I agree that technical folks have an advantage when it comes to
avoiding embarassing posting mistakes, I distinctly recall a meeting where we
voted not to discriminate against undead (something about garlic and a
recently-
passed fan or author) and since undead is often a charitable
description of my state by the time I log on to answer my home
email, having the default protect against embarrassment seems
a reasonable idea.
(I admit my first reaction yesterday was "Why didn't
it default to the list? .... but I thought better of it after a bit.")
