Per discussions at BASFA meetings earlier this month, tonight (January 26) will be the first of four BASFA Hugo Recommendations nights. After the regular meeting, those of you who have recommendations for the Retrospective Hugo Awards (for works from 1953) are encouraged to stick around and discuss them. We'll collect the information together and Cheryl has agreed to collect the information together as part of the EMERALD CITY Hugo Recommendations Lists <http://www.emcit.com/hugo_rec.shtml>.
We're starting a few weeks earlier than usual because of the Retro-Hugos. We try not to do too many categories at once in order to avoid overwhelming everyone. Next week, we'll do the second half of the 1953 ballot; after that, it's time for this year's Hugo Ballot (for works from 2003). You're welcome to make Hugo recommendations even if you're not eligible to nominate. You must be a member (attending or supporting) of either Torcon 3 (last year's Worldcon) or Noreascon 4 (next year's Worldcon) by January 31 in order to nominate on this year's Hugo Awards. You can buy a Noreascon membership online at <http://www.store.nesfa.org/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PLST&Store_Code=N> or learn more about N4 at <http://www.noreascon.org/>. I will bring paper ballots with me to tonight's meeting. You can also download paper ballots from the Noreascon web site at <http://www.noreascon.org/hugos/index.html>. If you're a member of N4, you'll be able to nominate electronically using a PIN provided to you by them. (It was part of their most recent progress report, and you can also request it from them if you've lost yours.) If you have Hugo Awards recommendations you want to make now, particularly if you can't be at the meetings where we're discussing them, send them to Cheryl <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> for inclusion on the EmCit list.
