For Immediate Release: Wednesday, March 3, 2004 CONJOSE MAILS MEMBERSHIP PACKAGES ConJose, the 2002 World Science Fiction Convention, mailed membership packages to its supporting and "no-show" attending members in a series of mailings during the week of March 1, 2004. ConJose mailed a total of 710 packages. 620 were for USA address and were sent by Priority Mail. 90 were for non-USA addresses and were mostly sent by Global Priority Mail. (A small number of packages were for countries that do not participate in GPM and were sent by ordinary airmail.) 590 of the USA-bound packages mailed on March 1. The remaining USA packages and all of the non-USA packages mailed on March 3. The mailing included 321 packages to supporting members and 389 packages to attending members who were unable to attend the convention. There were also 16 members (2 supporting, 14 attending) to whom ConJose did not send a package because of invalid addresses. Priority Mail usually receives 2-3 day delivery time within the USA. Global Priority Mail receives expedited service, but delivery times can vary considerably depending on country. Anyone who believes s/he is due a membership package and has who has not received one by March 20, 2004 should write to the convention Vice Chair/Controller, Cindy Scott, at the convention address (PO Box 61363, Sunnyvale CA 94088-1363 USA) or e-mail her at [EMAIL PROTECTED] In a letter distributed with the membership packages, ConJose co-Chairs Kevin Standlee and Tom Whitmore apologized for the delay in dispatching these packages. ConJose originally expected to send these packages in early 2003, but a series of database and paperwork problems caused significant delays in determining who ConJose owed membership packages. ------------------------------------------------------ Contact: ConJose: Kevin Standlee [EMAIL PROTECTED] The 2002 Worldcon, known as ConJose, took place at the McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, California from 29 August through 2 September 2002.
