Began at 8:12 pm – as we pulled up a Hugo and sat down

24 people attended

Secretary’s report: the minutes taken at Worldcon for meeting 737 were not present [possibly still being used to pack Cheryl's Hugo] - and the minutes from meeting 736 were accepted as ‘gold for the sneaky Norwegians’ - and congratulated Cheryl and Frank for winning their Hugos

Treasurer’s report: we took in $5.75 at meeting 735; took in $2.27 at meeting 736 & a lot at meeting 736

The VP reported that her husband won a Hugo

The President gave a hearty 'Wu who?', paid for the pun, then welcomed new folk visiting us

Art has updated the website to show our new location at the Hickory Pit - and took photo's of Cheryl and Frank with their Hugo awards (them things is shiny)

Announcements:
Dierdre announced that Frank Wu will be Baycon's artist GoH
Ed announced that the free clubhouse from the Historical Society is unlikely, unless we can think of a historical angle
Alison announced there are flyers for Corflu on the back table
Dave C announced that Wildside Press is reprinting all the Gor books
Michael Siladi announced that Potlatch will be in San Francisco at the Ramada Plaza hotel the week before Corflu
Cheryl announced that a cricket evangelist has been appointed

Reviews:
I reviewed 'Hero' as gorgeous and worth full price; then Trey follow-on'd that if you like the Hong Kong genre then you have to see it and is worth full price

Julie reviewed 'Digital People' (a book) as it is very current - and available at the Sunnyvale library - worth purchasing

We auctioned off stuff then - Galaxy Quest video $1.50; buncha books $3.00; more books $1.50; A Frank Wu painting of hot flamy red things $26.00; Norwescon 4 booklet $5.50; Hawaii petroglyphs $7.00; World of SF $ 17.50; Light $8.00

Then Chery reviewed ‘Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norill' by Suzanna Clarke as an incredibly good book, worth full price - go and buy it

Worldcon was multiply reviewed (& did we mention Cheryl and Frank got Hugos?) - Kevin thought it in the top 5 of Worldcons he has attended, worth everything he paid for it; Michael Siladi thought it a bit incoherent & over-programmed - but he did things there he hadn't done for a while - that they planned it well and used space well - one of the outstanding conventions he's been to and he's ready to go back; Dave C said there was decent food in easy walking distance, it went well, very nice, the parties were outstanding but that most of them shut down by 2am, worth full price; Cheryl called it a hugely impressive Worldcon with plenty of stuff there [funny storied followed] - a darned successful Worldcon. Signage was complained about & Japan won the 2007 Worldcon bid. Consuite was tremendous. Dave G reviewed the swan boats as very nice and there was a cautionary tale about packing one's Hugo

Silicon was reviewed as a pleasant little convention, worth volunteering for and worth full price

Dave C reviewed Tim Goodman showing review tapes as worth full price

Pam reviewed the A&E special on Star Wars as she enjoyed it

We adjourned at = 10:00 pm

And the rumor of the week was that ‘we let the Wookie win'
