Will Eisner, a legend in the comics industry, passed away last night
due to complications from recent heart surgery. He was 87 years old.
Eisner is best known for his long-running comic strip, "The Spirit",
which ran for about 11 years and gave a number of other legends, such
as Jules Feiffer and Jack Kirby, their start in the industry. He also
revolutionized the medium's use of the graphic novel format with his
1978 book, "A Contract With God".
Eisner's final book, "The Plot", will be published later this year.
