Secretary’s report: the minutes of meeting 764 were accepted as '2
minutes worth'
Treasurer's report was that at meeting 763 we took in $7.16 - while the
party jar took in $5.10 & that last week we took in $1.00
No VP
A President report [via Dave G] was that Michael Wallis becomes a
married man this last weekend - and that he sent us a long distance 'hi'
Announcements:
Cheryl announced she will be fleeing the country again this
Wednesday, whereupon she will go in search of Frank Wu [who is allegedly
in South Pensingtong] & will visit Eastercon ['Yay Wales!'] & that she
has a DVD of the Hugo awards ceremony of which she will show us
selections after the meting
Dave C announced that Norwescon will be this next weekend in Seattle
& Kevin hijacked Dave's announcement to mention that this weekend will
see the last convention in the old Portland Doubletree [the con is
Gamestorm]
Ed announced that he bought a new laptop
Reviews:
Ed reviewed his new laptop as it works really well and runs 'Axis and
Allies' well [Oooo pretty colors!] - & that he's also been enjoying
'Halo'. He also reviewed 'Robots' as great & worth full price
Dave G reviewed Wallis's wedding as . . . interesting
Cheryl reviewed Welsh rugby as 'the Red Dragon has conquered all' & she
reviewed ICFA as great if you like hanging out around the pool with
academic authors, as she had a marvellous weekend - that the Crawford
award was won by Steph Swainston [her book = 'The Year of Our War'] &
she brought swag to auction
Dave G reviewed [as Julie Porter, by proxy] Julie's trip home last
Monday as 'overly eventful' - in that she had a traffic too-close
encounter with road debris that harmed her car - as it did several other
cars [& she was uninjured]
Kevin reviewed 'Locomotion' as an incredible time sink, very much worth
full price
Dave C reviewed 'Robots' as the plot is, condensed, 'our leaders are
trying to kill us' - go see it & it's worth matinee
Art reviewed an article = '13 Things that Don't Make Sense' as worth reading
Eric reviewed our Congress at work [on Sunday] as a horror show
We auctioned off mostly books for: $1; $1; $0.25 & $0.25
We adjourned at = 9:21 pm in memory of Andre Norton
And the rumor of the week was that ‘if all science fiction writers were
family, would you let one marry your sister?'
