Secretary’s report: the minutes of meeting 770 were accepted as 'filed’ [hey, at least it wasn’t MY pun!]

The late Treasurer reported that last week we took in $1.75

No VP [week 8]

The President reported 'I’ll probably see movies’

We established a party jar

The Party Committee (Nathan) reported that while we can’t use Frank Wu’s suite the party plans look pretty good & that he’s negotiated party costs down like a madman – and needs volunteers if BASFA is going to hold a 2-night party. Ed volunteered – but MORE are needed!

Announcements:
Kevin announced that there are new ‘Emerald Cities’ and a new ‘Claims Department’

Frank announced he has an actual story now published in an anthology called ‘Daikaiju’ [giant monster tales] & his story’s title is = ‘The Tragical History of Guidon the Giant Space Chicken’ & that he can sell us copies of the book for $17.00

Mike announced that he learned the Star Wars fans are sitting line in shifts & the local SW fangroup [see www.swsb.com] could probably use a few extra bodies

Reviews:
Ed reviewed ‘Sahara’ as he is a Civil War ironclad buff and was impressed by the model used in the movie, thought the movie was well done & worth full price & he reviewed the weather as beautiful and great to drive in

Pam reviewed ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide’ as she was not familiar with the book, play, etc and she enjoyed the movie & thought it worth full price; then there were follow-ons = I liked the movie – except for the dolphin musical number; Ed says he hasn’t read the books either but enjoyed the movie; ; Kelly said the movie was entertaining; Trey thought they took liberties but were true to the spirit of the books, was fun and worth matinee. Then there was some additional discussion

Kevin reviewed a Calgary freebie paper with a picture of a Klingon with a vacuum cleaner as it proves folks in Calgary have a sense of humor

Fred reviewed the ‘Brewster’ comic from the Sunday funnies as it was funny and riffed off of an old-show ST plot

We auctioned off = a book for $5.00

We adjourned at = 8:52 pm

And the rumor of the week was ‘42’
