Secretary’s report: the minutes of meeting 776 were accepted as 'fez’

The Treasurer was late & reported that last week we took in $28.25

VP reports = Nathan reports that a Star Wars bowling league is being organized & Chris reported he is writing lots of fanzines

The President reported that it was ‘me’ time

We said ‘hi’ to Alice Swanberg, a new BASFA member who joined during Baycon

We said ‘hi’ to Cheryl, returning to us from overseas

The Sports Committee reported that we should rent the luxury box for a SJ Giant’s game

Two wordy motions failed; another motion passed - that on even numbered meeting dates Nathan - and on odd numbered meeting dates Chris be given precedence as VP

Announcements:
Dave C announced that he plans to do an ‘Interthingie’ order with Land’s End & to talk with him if interested

Frank Wu announced that Harlan Ellison is raising money to get a star on Hollywood Blvd for Walter Koenig

Cheryl announced she brought copies of Emerald City

Carole announced that Cal Train will do a ‘Romance on the Rails’ & that she & Bill were interviewed for a segment in it - & also to check for updates on the Silicon website

Pam announced the Campbell Highland Games will be this Saturday

Art announced that someone [saying he did the first podcast novel/interested in speaking to us] contacted him and asked for information about the club that Art then sent him

Julie reviewed Solvang as crowded & commented that seeing ‘Sith’ a 2nd time did not harm her

Fred reviewed Elizabeth Moon’s books, [‘Marque & Reprisal’ & ‘ Trading in Danger’] as he enjoyed them and recommends them

I reviewed ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ as an entertaining movie in which the stars looked like they were having fun & was worth high matinee

Dave G reviewed ‘Day of the Dunes’ as a form of Worldcon prep & that it had lots of good food & wine

Dave C reviewed ‘Jonathan Strange & Dr. Norrell’ as wordy but fun & reviewed ‘Bood Expo America’ as crowded & insane & inspired jet lag in him - & that Alison hefted books far better than did he

Chris reviewed ‘Tea at 5’ with Kate Mullgrew as fantastic and worth being taken out to see; reviewed Baycon as they treated him like a king & reviewed the ‘King of the Hill’ 4th season as the best of that series

Mike reviewed ‘The Inside’ - a Fox TV show - as very dark, gory & worth checking out

Frank Wu reviewed ‘Shark Boy & Lava Girl’ as the 3D was great & reviewed ‘Gone Baby Gone by Dennis Lehane as very dark, but he liked it

We auctioned off a Harry Potter glowy pen for $10.00
