Secretary’s report: the minutes of meeting 818 were accepted as ‘palindromic’

Treasurer’s report was that last week we took in $59.00 [regular jar; total $8411.44] & took in $17.00 in the party jar - and the Sharks beat Dallas in overtime

No VP - but there was a new ‘Drink Tank’

The President avoided reporting

We said ‘hi’ to Casey Swanson, a new publisher who was visiting us for the first time & was invited to join us in the weirdness.  We also greeted Kelley and Daniel, visiting us from Thailand [whereupon Thailand’s royal family was discussed, as was SP Somtow - and about how Dave C is immortal, at least until Somtow finishes writing the story that kills Dave]

We established a party jar

The Hollister in ’08 bid committee reported there are 18 pre-member & no, it shan’t be called ‘the Phantom Menace’

The Sports Committee reported he had the sign-up sheets with him for date preference

The Party Committee reported that he has a room confirmed on the party floor for BayCon but the band has been disallowed - and he needs bodies to help work the party

Announcements
[evil] Kevin announced the ‘best thing ever’ - that through his recommendation Chris Garcia is on the short list to be the keynote speaker for the 20th anniversary of the Almaden research Center

Dave C announced that Norwescon in 2 weeks at the SeaTac Doubletree - only 800 miles away - so come spend money at the Dealer’s room

Cheryl announced she can now see the floor at the office she shares with Kevin & obscure auction items will soon appear for BASFA auctions

Reviews:
Dave C reviewed ‘The Executioner’s Song’, volumes 2-3 [country songs] as perversely very enjoyable

Adrienne reviewed 3 books = ‘Murder by the Bay’, historical murders up through Dan White as she thought it was really great’; ‘Ghost Stories’ by Antonio Garcez as ‘nicely done’ & ‘Ghosthunters Guide to the SF Area’ as ‘a real clunker’

Cheryl reviewed the SF in SF readings [Silverberg & Robinson] as a good time was had by all and she can’t wait until the next one on April 18 & she reviewed ‘V for Vendetta’ as brilliant - go and see it

Sue reviewed a black tie event at the Computer History Museum as she took the tour and found it fascinating and recommends getting a docent to tell you the really good stories

Andy reviewed stuffing envelopes [over 600 of] as he ached but it was worth full price for the gossip

Daniel reviewed Disneyland as ‘it’s decent again’ since it’s been retouched for the 50th anniversary

 
We auctioned off books for = "" $1.00; $1.00; $0.50; magazines for $6.50; videos for $3.00; $3.50; & a plushie Marvin for $2.00

We adjourned at = 9:18 pm

And the rumor of the week was = ‘Due to the SMOFslist being down for 3 days, 47 SMOFs died from spleen explosions’
