(this format should seem familiar)

Coco's on Lawrence at 101 is easy to find, even after driving from
Van Nuys without a stop at home. The sign is visible from Lawrence.

The "banquet room" is large, and could support over 40 people easily.
We were not overcrowded with around 30 people. The acoustics aren't
great (it's a bit boomy) but they aren't bad. It's closed off from
the rest of the restaurant, so we didn't get any noise coming in from
the main dining room.

Service was friendly and competent. We waited a bit to get our orders
in (but we showed up at 7:50), and I expect that if this became our
regular meeting place they would adapt to our load.

Food was good, with a wide variety. There was one hole in the menu,
though. It hasn't got good vegetarian selections (one green salad by
my reading). There may be some items that can be ordered without the
obligatory chicken to get a vegetarian selection, but that would
require asking some questions.

Checks listed a computed 18% service charge/gratuity/tip but this was
clearly marked, and from what I understand, not mandatory. If I
hadn't ordered an appetizer, it would have come out at around what we
were paying at the Hick'ry Pit, maybe a little less.

Coco's goes on my "suitable for meetings" list. I would rank it above
Giovanni's.
