Hello All: Last night, Bill and I tried a new restaurant: Golden Apple. It's located near the corner of Stevens Creek Blvd. and Blaney Avenue in Cupertino.
It's an Asian buffet place with an interesting fusion. The place was crowded last night. We got there about 6:30 p.m., and we didn't leave until about 8:00 p.m. What with waiting in lines, we could have probably have been out a half-hour sooner without lines to deal with. If you know Todai, it's like Todai. Maybe a bit better than Todai's Vallco location. Dinner price is $18 for adults, and we had a grand opening discount coupon. Worth the discounted price. Bill and I were the only round eyes not attached to anyone Asian. Lots of family tables and large family groups. The place has a lot of hard surfaces with no soft surfaces, so the sound bounced around a lot. I would say that this place is not a good idea for large groups that like to converse. You either have to be next to or across from the person that you're trying to talk to. Otherwise, you'll have to shout. So, hows the food? Reasonable. If you get the food when it's put out, it's very good. However, sushi that has been out for some time isn't as tender as when it's fresh, so it's not as enjoyable. Lots of steam tables with interesting Chinese foods. The best, by far I think, was the Szechuan Fish Stew. Very tasty and spicy in an appropriate fashion. It'll be interesting to see what this place is like when it's had it's shakeout period. The place was pretty well filled while we were there. I would say that Golden Apple is some place that I'd be willing to go back to again, but Bill agrees that it is *not* a place that people *have* to come to or be dragged to when they come into town. However, so far, it's a decent and reasonably delicious Asian buffet in a decently convenient location (at least for us). Until later-- Carole _______________________________________________ Basfa mailing list [email protected] http://lists.basfa.org/listinfo.cgi/basfa-basfa.org
